Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show and Congress of Rough Riders of the World
Ironton May 3, 1901
In 1901, Ironton was visited by the greatest show in the entire world. Buffalo Bill brought the show that captivated the royalty of Europe to Ironton, Ohio. Annie Oakley toured with Buffalo Bill that year until her train injury in October.
The Old Fairgrounds is the present site of Central School and beyond. Years ago, a teacher at Central School told her students about personally seeing the show. She described the show as the greatest thing she ever saw in her life.
